Story
This November, eleven Agriculture & Dairy Business Management Program students will be travelling to the Aeres University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. This is an educational trip where the group will be viewing innovative farming facilities and specialized waste management systems. This experiential learning opportunity will focus on dairy facilities, as this is the main interest of the group. Examples of sites that may be visited: floating farms, Lely demo farm, farms with highly specialized and integrated waste management systems, Attero Waste Management Facility and culturally important sites around Amsterdam.
All student participants are directly involved in several areas of agriculture. Nine students either have a family dairy farm or work within the dairy industry. There are also students involved in the potato sector and cropping industry.
Impact
The group aims to raise $20,000 from Dal alumni and the farming community. Your gift will support additional travel costs, including airfare, transportation, travel insurance, and vaccines. Student participants are excited for the opportunity to travel and learn more about technologically advanced farming practices in the Netherlands.
