Story
On November 13, 2024, thirteen Dalhousie students will travel to the UK on an Equine focused study abroad trip. This opportunity will be a week-long study abroad program with a focus on equine studies and an emphasis on welfare. Students will be exposed to veterinary nursing and bio vet services on Hartpury College’s campus, and throughout the equine industry in the Gloucester area in the UK.
Day trips are planned to community and industry sites with opportunities to attend lectures and research presentations, as well as discover the equine therapy centre, and a racing simulator on campus.
Students will have the opportunity to compare and contrast equine health and welfare practices between Canada and the UK. Students will learn why differences exist between the two countries and will be able to use the implications of their findings in their own equine practices at home.
Impact
The group aims to raise $2,400 from Dal alumni and the equine community. Your gift will support additional travel costs, including airfare, transportation, travel insurance, and activity costs. Student participants are excited for the opportunity to travel internationally and learn more about equine welfare, veterinary nursing, and bio-vet practices in the UK.
