Vision
The Dalhousie Sports Business Society sits at the intersection of sports and business – two worlds that depend on each other more than people realize. Behind every game, league, and athlete is a business operation making it all run: marketing, analytics, operations, law, finance.
We help students who want to work in that space build the knowledge and opportunities to get there. And while we’re proudly part of Dalhousie’s Faculty of Management, the society is open to any student with an interest in sports business, no matter their program.
Story
Dalhousie’s Faculty of Management is built around training ambitious, innovative thinkers and we believe sports business is one of the most exciting places for that talent to land. It’s a fast-growing, multi-faceted industry that rewards people who are driven, creative, and willing to put in the work to break in.
Our goal is simple: put Dal students on the map in an industry where competition for opportunities is steep and exposure makes all the difference. With your support, we can give our members the platform to compete for those opportunities on a national stage.
Strategy
We give students hands-on exposure to the sports business industry through conferences, networking events, guest speakers, and case competitions. Our primary initiative is sending a delegation to the John Molson Sports Business Conference (JMSM) at Concordia University – one of the largest student-run sports business conferences in the country, bringing together industry leaders, recruiters, and students from across Canada and beyond. Alongside that, we run on-campus events throughout the year to keep building community and opportunity for our members at Dal.
Impact
Funds raised will primarily cover travel, accommodation, and registration costs to send a delegation of Dal students to the JMSM conference at Concordia University in Montreal – giving them direct access to industry professionals, recruiters, and a network they couldn’t build from the classroom alone.
Remaining funds will go towards hosting our own events here at Dal, helping us grow the society and build sports business opportunities for students right at home. Every dollar helps us put Dal – and Dal students – on the map.
